Andorra

In September 2020, right after the pandemic, I took my car and drove to Andorra. It was so easy that I couldn’t believe it’s another country at first. Only 2 hours from Toulouse and I didn’t even need to show my passport or my vaccination certificate!

I had spotted a few hikes that I wanted to do, but nothing very specific. I was by myself and ready to improvise if necessary.

And it was necessary, no mobile data there and so no GPS. It’s not easy to find your way in a foreign place without a guide. That meant that I didn’t see some of the places I had planned to see and that I saw different ones. And that was perfectly ok!

I arrived through El Pas De La Casa, and drove to my first hike before heading to my hotel near Andorra La Vella and not far from Spain.

I didn’t really like the cities, but I very much enjoyed the countryside and the hikes. I love the mountains. I saw:

  • Mirador Roc Del Quer (for the view)
  • Estany D’engolasters (hike with a lake at the end)
  • Tristaina Lake trail (hike with beautiful lakes)
  • Sorteny Nature Park
  • Andorra La Vella (the capital)
  • Santuario De Meritxell (religious sanctuary with a nice hike)

I haven’t seen it during Winter, maybe one day.
