Switzerland

Maybe you don’t know that, but I used to be a translator, from Italian and English into French. During my career, I translated several documents describing the beautiful sceneries of Switzerland. As I was writing about the lakes, the food, the hikes, I was thinking to myself “One day, I’ll visit Switzerland“. One of the main difficulties is that the country is super expensive, one of the most expensive in the world actually…

But because I moved closer to the border, I thought that I could do just short trips to visit Switzerland. It’s often cheaper to do several trips and pay for the train instead of paying for accommodation. When I stayed in Geneva, I opted for a bed in a shared room with 4 other women, and it still costed me 154 euros for 2 nights!

The good thing is that, when you stay in Geneva, your hotel gives you a free transport card for the duration of your trip. One less thing to pay for.

In March 2024, I discovered Geneva during a 3 days trip, and I loved it!

In April 2024, I did another short trip to Switzerland, but went a bit further: Lausanne. And from my hotel in Lausanne, I did day trips to Montreux and Gruyères. It felt a bit more like another country than Geneva, with the famous Swiss accent. Some places near Gruyères truly look like the stereotypical Switzerland images I had in my mind. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the mountains. Everything was so beautiful!
