Two years ago, I spent a few days in Spain and I was impressed by the street art in Barcelona! And by street art, I mean art in the street, not just graffiti. A lot of streets are truly beautiful, very decorated. With this article, I want to encourage you to look up (and down) and chase beauty in Barcelona or anywhere you go.
Store fronts in Barcelona
Maybe you don’t consider store fronts as art, but honestly, in Barcelona, some of them are extraordinary! I particularly loved the front of an ancient pharmacy. So many decorations, and all of it was very well preserved.
Less ancient and classy, there also was a rotisserie that had giant chickens painted on it rolling doors. Once open, you wouldn’t see them, but in the morning, they were there looking kind of confused (and i can understand why).
A hairdresser who made a statue very sure of himself.
And last, but not least: this wonderful restaurant, Azoka, on the hills to Montjuic. Every wall was painted by artists. Inside, they were also selling art. When I first walked by, it was closed. But when I came back from Montjuic, it was open and I had lunch there. The tapas were delicious! And the atmosphere very nice too.

As I was walking in the city center, I came by an unexpected collection of street art on three walls. It definitely looked like a street art exhibition where every artist could add its own piece. I don’t know how much time I spent there, but I’m guessing at least half an hour. There was so much to see, to read, with references to politics and pop culture. I absolutely loved it!
Everywhere , More Street Art In Barcelona
And then, there is the more classic street art, here and there, sometimes discreet and hidden up on a wall. So, remember to look up, down and in small corners because you might find some treasures. Indeed, some of the art I found in the streets of Barcelona required a lot time and skills to be created.
